MEGADETH Bassist Switches To ESP Guitars
January 28, 2005MEGADETH bassist James MacDonough has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:
"Recently I've come to the decision to switch over to ESP guitars. This is a result of repeated headaches I've received from dealing with my old company. There just seems to be too much on their plate, with too little time, not enough people working and not dealing with priorities first. I have to give them credit, they do top-quality work with great innovations but are too understaffed to take care of things they need to.
"This brings me to how I met Matt (president) and Allen (artist relations) from ESP, who were more than happy to work something out with me.
"These guys (ESP) are top in the business and let's say I finally listened to my big bro Dave and gave it a try with very happy results. I'm trying a few different models and will have a custom model in a couple of months.
"I have a lot of friends who already play ESP, Michael from EVERGREY, CHILDREN OF BODOM guys, Steve DiGiorgio just to name a few. I'm a very happy camper and looking forward to a long relationship with them as well.
"The upcoming tour will be great. I've always enjoyed Europe before, so many diverse cultures. My fiancée will actually accompany me to Dublin which is a big part of both of our heritages and I'm very excited about that. I actually have original family lineage still living there. I just might get a tattoo to commemorate it also.
"What do you think, a shamrock on my nose? Just kidding, probably behind my right ear/neck area. Seems only fitting, don't have enough room for a leprechaun and a pot of gold.
"Yes, I will have a pint or two of Guiness in the Motherland, it would be sacrilegious not to.
"I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can in our travels and seeing many that I've already met from playing in ICED EARTH before.
"We take off in four days so we'll see you on 'the killing road' very soon, and I sincerely hope you like the kick in the head we're ready to deliver with the music.
"Just remember we don't cover time off work. HAH!"
